Rome, Italy – Italian energy company RWE has signed a deal with a company that plans to build a new power plant that will produce electricity to power more than one million people.RWE said on Tuesday that the plant will be built on a site in a city called Turin and will be the biggest of its kind in Europe.
The company said it will create 2,200 jobs, and will generate around 4 billion euros ($5.2 billion) in annual revenue.
The Turin plant will produce power for up to 1 million households, and it will also supply power to several towns and cities, RWE said in a statement.
The company said the project is expected to be completed by 2019, and that it will be operational by 2021.
The plant is one of several that RWE is building in Europe to help the country meet its ambitious renewable energy goals.
